This mix started as a half hr dance party, but slowly morphed into something with a little more texture. I'm calling it "Slow Burner" because I think some of these tracks require a little time and effort to sink into.
Full Track list after the jump…
"Slow Burner"
0:00 Fucked Up - Looking For God "I can't really get behind this band as a whole, but I think this build up is kind of hypnotic. Sorry if it's a little drawn out. Just pretend you're listening to the ocean."
2:05 The Bloody Beetroots - I Love the Bloody Beetroots "Welcome to the future of electronic music. Punk rockers just got themselves laptops."
4:40 Ladyhawke - Paris is Burning (Cut Copy Remix) "One of my favorite dance tracks right now, and Cut Copy add their bit of magic to it."
9:40 Gang Gang Dance - House Jam "Some people say life is about compromise. GGD didn't get that memo."
13:13 No Age - Everybody's Down "DIY punk rock is alive and well in downtown LA."
15:20 Amadou & Mariam - Sabalie "The world is officially flat when a blind couple from Mali end up on my itunes."
18:20 Madvillain - Strange Ways "MF Doom and Madlib (together = Madvillain) are the greatest living hip hop artists you may never have heard of."
19:42 Friendly Fire - Paris "This song is already taking off and for good reason."
22:55 Deerhunter - Little Kids "Microcastles is one of the best albums released this year, and 'Little Kids' is its crown jewel."
26:23 M83 - Don't Save Us From The Flames "Pretty self explanatory"
30:18 Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness "Will Oldham (aka Bonnie Prince Billy) is one of the most haunting and powerful songwriters to ever enter the folk arena. His catalogue is extensive and always growing. However, I See A Darkness as an album and a song is still his best work."
